American Apparel Opens New Store in Manchester, England

Los Angeles and Manchester, England — American Apparel has opened a new shop-in-shop location in Selfridges at Manchester’s Exchange Square, bringing its total store base in the UK to 19.

Los Angeles and Manchester, England — American Apparel has opened a new shop-in-shop location in Selfridges at Manchester’s Exchange Square. This is the fifth in-store collaboration the company has done with Selfridges and brings American Apparel’s total store base in the UK to 19.

The new 156-square-foot Selfridges Manchester Exchange location is American Apparel’s second shop-in-shop in Manchester. It is the first location opened by American Apparel this year. Previously the company’s most recent British store was opened in December 2011 at Westfield London.

“Our collaborations with Selfridges have been a great avenue of expansion for American Apparel and their customers have shown a great affinity for our brand,” says Marsha Brady, a creative director for American Apparel. “We’re looking forward to exploring new locations like this across the UK and wherever else the opportunities arise.”

American Apparel is a vertically integrated manufacturer, distributor and retailer of branded fashion basic apparel based in Los Angeles. As of November 30, 2011, American Apparel operated 249 retail stores in 20 countries, including the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, United Kingdom, Ireland, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Israel, Australia, Japan, South Korea and China.
