Fuzzy’s Taco Shop To Open First Restaurant in Tennessee

Fort Worth, TexasFuzzy’s Taco Shop®, a Baja-style, fast-casual Mexican restaurant, has leased a 3,552-square-foot retail space at Fountains at Gateway, the new Class A office and retail development located in Murfreesboro, Tenn., according to developer Scott Graby, president of Hearthstone Properties.

Restaurant industry veterans Sean Chambers and Richard Phillips own the Fuzzy’s Taco Shop franchise for the Nashville-Davidson-Rutherford-Williamson area and selected Murfreesboro as their first location. Chambers was in restaurant management in Texas for 16 years and Phillips in restaurant and franchise business development for 8 years. They previously worked at Fuzzy’s corporate office in Fort Worth, Texas.

Fuzzy’s Taco Shop will be located on the ground floor of One Fountain Plaza, the new 107,000-square-foot office at Fountains at Gateway. The restaurant will open in spring 2017, and will be among the first tenants to open in the new Fountains development.

Founded in 2001 near the TCU campus in Fort Worth, the original Fuzzy’s Taco Shop® was purchased by father-son combination Alan and Chuck Bush after 2 years of operation. Fountains at Gateway is a 31-acre, Class A mixed-use development in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The $80 million development will include 400,000 square feet of office space in three office buildings, 70,000 square feet of retail in three freestanding buildings and street-level retail space in the office buildings, as well as a 100-unit apartment community and a mid-size business hotel. Phase I of the development includes a 4-story, 107,000-square-foot office building and an 11,000-square-foot retail building. The office building is now complete and site work is nearing completion. The first retail building is underway and will be completed by year-end 2016.

Fuzzy’s Taco Shop joins restaurant brands Brixx Wood Fired Pizza, Burger Republic and Tom+Chee in leasing retail space at Fountains at Gateway.

Fountains at Gateway is developed by Hearthstone Properties, a Murfreesboro-based commercial real estate investment company. The architect and contractor are H. Michael Hindman Architects and Solomon Builders, respectively. Hearthstone is handling retail leasing; and Janet Sterchi, Doug Ryan and Nikko Sansone at Colliers are handling office leasing.
