IKEA Breaks Ground on Las Vegas Store, Opening Summer 2016

by Katie Lee

Las Vegas — IKEA has officially broken ground for its future Las Vegas store. When it opens in summer 2016, the new Las Vegas store will be the first IKEA in Nevada. Currently, the nearest IKEA stores are in Covina, Calif.; Tempe, Ariz.; and Draper, Utah.

The 351,000-square-foot store, plus 1,300 parking spaces, will be built on 26 acres along the northern side of Interstate-215 at Durango Drive, near Sunset Road. IKEA has contracted with R&O Construction to build the project, and store plans reflect the same unique architectural design for which IKEA stores are known worldwide. In addition, IKEA will evaluate potential on-site power generation to complement its current U.S. goal of a renewable energy presence at nearly 90% of its U.S. locations.

Currently, there are more than 360 IKEA stores in 47 countries, including 40 in the U.S. For more information, visit IKEA-USA.com.
