McKenzie Designs and Builds First Genuine Pizza, Part of a Multi-City Expansion

Miami — McKenzie, a boutique design, build and custom fabrication firm in Miami’s industrial Allapattah neighborhood, recently completed the design and construction of the first Genuine Pizza, marking the rebranded launch of Harry’s Pizzeria, Michael Schwartz’s original and highly-successful pizza concept.

Located inside Aventura Mall’s new three-level, 315,000-square-foot expansion wing, the 3,500-square-foot restaurant is part of Genuine Pizza’s expansion to 18 new locations over the next 3 years — all of which are scheduled to be designed by McKenzie.

“Our vision was to create an environment that was fresh, warm and simply inviting, allowing the food be the main focus,” says Jose Ortez, design officer at McKenzie. “We also incorporated a sense of transparency where customers can see the ingredients and food-making process. This concept will be consistent in future locations, which includes Atlanta, Cleveland, Miami Beach and Sunrise.”

McKenzie achieved its vision for the eatery with the use of stringed lights and hanging light fixtures, a showcased dough-making room, colorful accents like yellow and grey Cuban tiles, and a 30-by-7 foot moss wall.

The Allapattah-based design and construction firm also applied its custom fabrication skills into the design by creating the restaurant’s bar, merchandise unit, host stand and ceiling trellis all made of warm-toned woods.

The restaurant’s outdoor patio offers additional seating that includes orange chairs and marble tables surrounded by green landscaping and additional wood details.

Genuine Pizza officially opened on December 5, 2017.
