Canton, Mass. — Dunkin' Brands Group, Inc., the parent company of Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins, has promoted three executives to vice president roles. The promotions include Brian Gilbert to vice president, retail business development; Frank Barone to vice president, financial management & business analytics; and Mathias Piercy, to regional vice president, south central.

Biscuitville Names Executive Promotions, Including President

Greensboro, N.C. — Kathie S. Niven has been named president of Greensboro, N.C.-based Biscuitville FRESH SOUTHERN®. She joined Biscuitville in 2011 and most recently served as the company’s chief brand officer. In conjunction with the promotion of Niven, Kristie Mitchell has been promoted to vice president of brand and marketing.

Freddy’s Opens 300th Restaurant

Indianapolis — Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers opened in south Indianapolis on March 13, 2018. The opening marks the 300th location for Freddy’s. Freddy Simon, the 93-year-old company namesake and World War II veteran, was scheduled to be in attendance on opening day.

KFC Canada to Open 12 New Units by 2020

Vaughan, Ontario — Franchise Management Inc. (FMI) has acquired Saskatchewan-based El-Rancho Food Services Limited. The sale includes all of El-Rancho's 21 KFC assets throughout Saskatchewan and Manitoba and brings FMI's total Canadian KFC restaurants to 85. FMI also operates KFC restaurants in Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Quebec and Ontario.

Dunkin’ Donuts Opened More Than 86 Non-Traditional Locations in 2017

Canton, Mass. — Dunkin’ Donuts’ franchisees opened more than 86 new non-traditional locations across the country in 2017. The brand continues to open restaurants throughout the hotel sector, including a Great Wolf Lodge location in Bloomington, Minn., and two restaurants in the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino located in Las Vegas and Biloxi, Miss. Other notable non-traditional partnerships throughout 2017 include a three-unit deal with Price Chopper in Kansas and the opening of 12 rest stop and travel center restaurants.

Chipotle Names Taco Bell CEO as its Next Chief Executive

Denver — Chipotle Mexican Grill’s board of directors has appointed Brian Niccol as chief executive officer and a member of the board, effective March 5, 2018. Niccol most recently served as CEO of Yum! Brands' Taco Bell division, where he was responsible for the highly successful turnaround of the business.
