SUBWAY® Seeking New Locations

by Katie Lee

Milford, Conn. — The SUBWAY® restaurant chain, which has recently celebrated 50 years, is on the lookout for new locations.

“We are always looking for ways to create a great experience for our guests — from product innovations to exciting new locations,” says John Devine, director of Subway real estate. “We’re looking for great, conveniently located properties to either locate — or relocate — Subway sandwich shops.”

The SUBWAY® chain currently has more than 44,700 locations worldwide with restaurants open in 112 countries. In total, SUBWAY® franchisees lease nearly 53 million square feet of property around the globe.

From 300 to 2,000 square feet, SUBWAY® restaurants come in all shapes and sizes. Along with fitting in traditional shopping centers, malls and freestanding locations, the brand can also fit sandwich shops in non-traditional venues as well, such as hospitals, colleges, sports arenas and airports.

“Recently, one of the most interesting locations opened in the principality of Andorra [pictured],” says Chris Kan, training and business promotion specialist for Subway real estate. Andorra is an independent principality located between France and Spain in the Pyrenees mountains. “The new sandwich shop uses all six floors of the building and not only has great visibility but provides guests with amazing views of the area. Because of the chain’s unique business model, which has minimal equipment and space requirements, a SUBWAY® sandwich shop can operate just about anywhere.”
