Burlington, Ontario — On June 8, 2017, IKEA Canada officially broke ground on its new store in Quebec City. Newly appointed Store Manager Annika Lenoir is setting the vision for the new store, which is on track to open in late summer 2018.

IKEA Canada To Purchase Second Wind Farm in Alberta

Burlington, Ontario (Canada) — IKEA Canada has signed agreements to acquire an 88MW wind farm located near Drumheller, Alberta. Consisting of 55 turbines, the Wintering Hills wind farm will generate 275 million kWh (kilowatt hours) of energy, the equivalent to the electricity consumption of 54 IKEA stores.

IKEA Canada Plans Full-Size Store in Quebec City

Burlington, Ontario (Canada) — IKEA Canada is planning a full-size store for Quebec City. Scheduled to open in summer 2018, the IKEA Quebec City store will be the 14th IKEA store in Canada. The store will take roughly 14-16 months to build once the ground has been broken in spring 2017 and will be approximately 340,000 square feet in size.

IKEA Plans To Expand EV Charging Service

Burlington, Ontario (Canada) — IKEA Canada plans to install two additional electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at each IKEA store in Ontario, reinforcing IKEA Canada's commitment to sustainability and sustainable transport. The Ontario Ministry of Transportation, under its Electric Vehicle Chargers Ontario (EVCO) program, is providing the funding for the new charging stations.

IKEA Canada To Expand Alberta Stores

Burlington, Ontario (Canada) — Construction will begins this July on warehouse expansions at the IKEA Calgary and IKEA Edmonton stores. The projects will add an average of 29,000 square feet of space to each of the existing warehouses.
