Kroger to Phase Out Single-Use Plastic Bags by 2025

Cincinnati — The Kroger Co. will phase out single-use plastic bags and transition to reusable bags across its family of stores by 2025. Seattle-based QFC will be the company's first retail division to phase out single-use plastic bags. The company expects QFC's transition to be completed in 2019.

Kroger Names New Michigan Division President

Cincinnati — The Kroger Co. has promoted Ken DeLuca to president of the Michigan division, effective August 1, 2018. DeLuca, currently vice president of operations for the Dillons division, succeeds Scott Hays who was promoted to president of the Cincinnati/Dayton division earlier this month.

Kroger Opens Culinary Innovation Center in Cincinnati

Cincinnati — Kroger has opened its Culinary Innovation Center in downtown Cincinnati. Kroger commenced construction on the 12,000-square-feet, LEED-designed Center in March 2017. The commercial kitchen features multiple cooking stations, spaces and capabilities, including technology that allows video streaming of educational sessions to Kroger associates across the country.

Kroger Promotes SVP of Retail Divisions & President of Fry’s

Cincinnati — The Kroger Co. has named key leadership promotions to support Restock Kroger. Steve McKinney, currently president of the Fry's Food Stores division, has been promoted to senior vice president of retail divisions for the company, effective February 5, 2018. Monica Garnes, currently corporate vice president of produce-floral merchandising, will succeed McKinney as president of the Fry's division.

Murray’s Cheese and Kroger Open 400th Location

Cincinnati and New York — Murray's Cheese and Kroger will open their 400th store location near Houston tomorrow. The iconic cheese shop, which opened in 1940 in New York, offers the finest selection of cheese, meat and specialty food items to Kroger, whose family of stores includes Fred Meyer, King Soopers, Dillons, Ralphs and QFC locations across the United States.

Cincinnati — The Kroger Co. has announced the retirement of Michigan division President Jayne Homco, and the promotion of Scott Hays to succeed her. Hays currently serves as vice president of operations for the company's Fry's division.

Cincinnati — On June 21, 2017, Paul Bowen will retire from The Kroger Co., where he served as president of the Jay C and Ruler division. His successor will be named at a later date. Bowen spent 46 years with the company.

Kroger Announces Retirement and Promotions

Cincinnati — The Kroger Co. has announced the retirement of Sukanya Madlinger, senior vice president of retail divisions, and the promotion of Calvin Kaufman to succeed her. Kaufman currently serves as president of Kroger's Louisville, Ky., division. Kroger has also promoted Ann Reed to serve as president of Kroger's Louisville division.

Restaurant Technologies Partners With Weis Markets, Fry's Food Stores and Price Chopper

MinneapolisRestaurant Technologies has partnered with three grocery brands: Weis Markets, Fry's Food Stores and Price Chopper. Over the next few months, each banner is on track to use the Total Oil Management system, a technology that automates the entire life cycle of fryer oil. Restaurant Technologies has seen double-digit growth in the industry; in 2016 the system was installed in approximately 2,000 grocery locations, with another 350 completed in 2017 so far.

Kroger Names President of Fred Meyer Stores

Cincinnati — The Kroger Co. has named Joe Grieshaber as its new president of Fred Meyer Stores, replacing Jeff Burt, who resigned on March 20, 2017 to become Target Corporation’s senior vice president of grocery, fresh food and beverage. Grieshaber had been serving as president of Kroger's Columbus, Ohio, division.

Kroger Outlines Chief Digital Officer Succession Plan

Cincinnati — The Kroger Co. has a succession plan for its group vice president and chief digital officer. Kevin Dougherty, group vice president and chief digital officer, will retire on Jan. 27, 2017. Yael Cosset, chief commercial officer and chief information officer of 84.51°, will succeed Dougherty effective upon his retirement.

Kroger’s Bob Mariano To Retire

Cincinnati — The Kroger Co. has announced the retirement of Roundy's CEO Bob Mariano, effective September 1, after which he will serve as strategic adviser to Kroger and Roundy's for 2 years.
