REI Names 3 New Executive Leaders

Seattle — REI, the nation's largest consumer co-op, has made three recent hires to lead its teams in legal, information technology and REI Co-op Brands: Wilma Wallace, Christine Putur and Chris Speyer.

REI Achieves First U.S. LEED Platinum & Net Zero Energy Distribution Center

Seattle — On December 24, 2016, REI’s newest distribution center, located in Goodyear, Ariz., achieved LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum certification — the highest level in the U.S. Green Building Council's (USGBC) green building rating system — making it the first distribution center in the U.S. to achieve both LEED Platinum certification and Net Zero Energy.

REI Completes Rooftop Solar Installation

Phoenix — REI, a national specialty outdoor retailer and the nation’s largest consumer co-op, has teamed with Blue Oak Energy to complete a 2.2 MW rooftop solar installation atop REI’s new distribution center in Goodyear, Ariz.

REI Continues To Expand

Seattle — Over the next 2 years, REI will open a new store in Fort Worth, Texas, in spring 2016 and relocate REI Rockville in spring 2017. Additionally, a flagship REI location is planned for Washington, D.C., in fall 2016.

REI Promotes 25-Year Veteran To Vice President of Retail

Seattle — REI has promoted Rachel Ligtenberg to vice president of retail following a 25-year tenure with the co-op. In her new role, she adds retail operations to her current responsibilities of leading store design, visual merchandising and the co-op's flagship strategy.
