UFood Grill’s First Maryland Location Uses Facial Recognition Self-Serve Kiosks

Owings Mills, Md. — UFood Grill, a healthy fast-casual restaurant chain, opened its first restaurant in Maryland on January 27, 2017 at Metro Centre at Owings Mills near Baltimore.

The 2,000-square-foot restaurant can seat 42 people indoors in its modern-rustic dining area. To speed service, UFood Grill uses the most modern technology with self-serve kiosks featuring facial recognition technology, the first of its 18 locations to do so. These high-tech self-service kiosks help expedite the total ordering process. From start to finish, customers can order and pay in less than 10 seconds. Importantly, UFood Grill understands that due to privacy concerns, facial recognition technology will not appeal to all customers, but strives to offer as many ordering options as possible to cater to each customer.

Based in Burlington, Mass., UFood Grill is a franchisor of fast-casual foodservice restaurants. UFood Grill offers traditional and non-traditional restaurant designs to franchisees for expansion across the U.S. For more information, visit ufoodgrill.com.
