Englewood Construction Starts Three New Retail Projects

Chicago — The retail group of Englewood Construction, one of the country’s leading commercial construction firms, has started work on three new ground-up projects: a Hobby Lobby in Beavercreek, Ohio; a PetSmart in Taylor, Mich.; and a Goodwill in Monroe, Conn.

“We’re extremely proud of the ongoing national partnership we’ve developed with these retail clients, which allows us to ensure smooth, dependable project delivery for them in locations across the country,” says William Di Santo, president of Lemont, Ill.-based Englewood Construction. “If a retailer wants more reliability and less stress when opening stores in multiple locations, working with a trusted contractor on a national basis is a great way to bring consistency to the construction process regardless of the location.”

Di Santo added that these three projects illustrate the continued momentum Englewood is experiencing across the big box retail segment. “In particular, we’re seeing more clients proceed with new construction on stand-alone sites, rather than opting for infill in existing centers,” he said. “This kind of expansion confirms retailers are feeling confident in a growing economy.”

Englewood recently broke ground on a 55,000-square-foot ground-up Hobby Lobby store in Beavercreek, Ohio, a suburb of Dayton. The new hobby and craft store will be located on an empty lot next to a Target on North Fairfield Road. Slated for completion by the end of January 2016, the project will use tilt-up construction of masonry embossed panels. Tulsa, Oklahoma-based Robert Michael Hughes is the project architect.

In Taylor, Mich., Englewood is demolishing an existing PetSmart and then building a new PetSmart in the same end-cap location at Taylor Retail Center. The 27,308-square-foot building, slated for completion in early 2016, also includes space for a future tenant. Akron, Ohio-based GPD Group is the project architect.

Goodwill selected Englewood to build its 18,251-square-foot store in Monroe, Conn. The ground-up construction began this past June and will be completed in December. Meriden, Connecticut-based BL Companies is the project architect. Goodwill will relocate to this new store at 252 Monroe Turnpike from its current location just a few blocks away. The new store will be nearly twice the size of the previous facility.
