PetSmart Opens 1,600th Store in North America, Now Also in all 50 U.S. States

Phoenix — PetSmart has reached a major milestone by opening its 1,600th store in its expanding store footprint across North America. The 1,600th store opened Thanksgiving week and is located in El Paso, Texas. Petco To Be Acquired By International Investors

Rockville, Md. — Petco will be acquired for $4.6 billion by CVC Capital Partners (Luxembourg) and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. The deal should close in early 2016. With its headquarters in San Diego, Petco had been taken private in 2006 in a $1.8 billion buyout by California-based private equity firms.
