New Farm-Fresh Concept, Naked Farmer, Expands into South Florida

Miami — As its nears its first anniversary, Naked Farmer will be expanding its operations and opening two new locations, one of which will mark the concept’s entrance into the South Florida market. Naked Farmer has signed leases in Miami’s Coral Gables neighborhood and Water Street in downtown Tampa. The farm-to-fork restaurant concept opened its flagship location last June amidst the pandemic with great success and plans to expand and open 15 to 20 additional locations throughout the state over the next 3 to 4 years.

“This is a Florida story as we work with farmers all over the state who we source our food from,” says Jordan Johnson, founder of Naked Farmer. “We’re investing in our state’s economy by buying from local growers and as we grow, that purchase power grows, and more of every dollar spent in our restaurant stays local.”

Capitalizing on the successes of its first two locations on Central Avenue in St. Petersburg and Sparkman’s Wharf in Tampa, Naked Farmer secured a round of funding to fuel rapid expansion throughout the state. The brand was particularly interested in bringing its concept to South Florida as more people migrate to the southern part of the state. With the help of JLL’s retail advisory team, Naked Farmer signed a 1,900-square-foot lease in the heart of downtown Coral Gables. JLL will be spearheading leasing for Naked Farmer throughout the rest of the state where the brand is exploring other neighborhoods.

“When Jordan and Naked Farmer approached us to help them find a space, we knew that Coral Gables was a perfect location for such a unique concept to enter the market in a strategic rollout strategy,” says Zach Winkler, executive vice president, JLL. “As the brand looks to open additional locations throughout South Florida, we will be targeting similar submarkets with strong population densities like Brickell, Aventura and Fort Lauderdale.”

Naked Farmer has also announced a second 1,900-square-foot lease in downtown Tampa at Water Street, a mixed-use wellness-focused, waterfront community featuring residences, hotels, retail, restaurants, offices and public spaces. Naked Farmer will set up shop on the ground floor of a 25-story, Class A office building named Thousand & One with an anticipated opening in fourth quarter 2021. This will be the brand’s third brick-and-mortar location in the Bay area, with two other locations in St. Petersburg, Fla., and Sparkman Wharf in Tampa.
