Rita’s Italian Ice Tests New Store Concept

Trevose, Pa. — Rita’s Italian Ice has a new test store concept in select markets — Rita’s Italian Ice & Creamery — starring a rotating menu of new hand-scooped frozen custard, alongside Rita’s signature Italian ice and other ‘cool treats.’ Ten new Creamery locations will open this year.

“Frozen Custard has been at the core of our business since it was added to our menu more than 25 years ago, and while we’re most widely known for our famous Italian Ice, our guests can’t get enough of our award-winning soft-serve frozen custard,” says Phyllis Savar Levy, chief marketing officer at Rita’s Italian Ice. “With this newly designed contemporary store concept, we’re shining the spotlight on our wonderful frozen custard products. Each store will be offering an ever-changing selection from more than 35 delicious hand-scooped frozen custard flavors, and coupling them with freshly baked treats, like cookies, brownies and waffles, to make amazing custard sandwiches.”

Rita’s new hand-scooped frozen custard, in addition to Rita’s traditional soft-serve frozen custard, will be available at select Rita’s Italian Ice stores around the country, as well as 10 newly designed Rita’s Italian Ice & Creamery concept locations opening this year. At the new Creamery locations, the hand-scooped frozen custard can be enjoyed on its own, in a build-your-own sundae, within a freshly baked waffle, brownie or cookie sandwich, or as part of a ‘cool combo’ — pairing hand-scooped frozen custard with Italian ice.

“The new Creamery concept is an exciting step forward for Rita’s,” adds Levy. “We’re looking forward to officially testing this new concept, but the initial feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.”

Rita’s Franchise Company is the largest Italian ice concept in the world. Rita’s Italian Ice first opened in Bensalem, Pa., in 1984 and now has more than 600 locations worldwide. Today, Rita’s is headquartered in Trevose, Pa. For more information, visit www.ritasice.com.
