Spokane, Wash. — Ecova, a total energy and sustainability management company, has been selected by Houston-based Mattress Firm to help the company reduce waste-related costs and improve environmental performance. Ecova will consult with the retailer on monitoring and reducing waste at approximately 630 locations.
Leveraging the Waste Manager Module on the Ecova Energy and Sustainability Management Platform, Mattress Firm will gain a complete picture of its waste generation and costs in order to improve financial savings and waste prevention. Ecova will also procure waste hauling services for Mattress Firm, which are expected to deliver double-digit savings through competitive bidding of services and guidance on favorable business terms.
“As Mattress Firm continues to grow, visibility into the costs involved in our waste stream via the Ecova Platform is critical to enable improved environmental and financial savings,” says Sammy Butera, director of construction and facilities for Mattress Firm. “Ecova’s suite of waste solutions will help us better understand our waste generation in order to improve efficiencies.”
Ecova manages waste expenses for over 55,000 sites nationwide and gathers usage and expenditure data to deliver insights that allow clients to increase operational efficiency, reduce costs, and set sustainability performance standards.
“Today’s businesses are increasingly seeking a robust, cost-effective way to track, analyze and report on key waste metrics across their portfolio,” says Bob Zak, senior vice president, facility solutions at Ecova. “We are excited for the opportunity to partner with Mattress Firm and improve management of waste at so many of their sites.”
