Austin, Texas — On May 30, Google Store celebrated the grand opening of its first store in Texas with its new location at Domain NORTHSIDE in Austin. The new store has approximately 2,257 square feet of selling space.
For the first time ever, shoppers in the Austin area can have hands-on experiences in a dedicated retail space with products made by Google, such as Pixel phones, watches and tablets, Nest cameras, Fitbit trackers and branded merchandise. The Google Store has experts on hand to help visitors get the most out of their device, such as troubleshooting an issue, providing Pixel phone repairs and more.
“When we opened our first physical store in New York City in 2021, our intention was to meet many of our customers and experiment with the possibilities of a physical retail space, then build upon that experience,” says a spokesperson for Google Store. “So far we’ve opened stores in five major cities and gotten great feedback. We’re continually exploring different ways to reach our customers, which is why we chose to open a store at Domain NORTHSIDE. We’ll continue to open stores in a variety of locations [including Washington, D.C.], always taking customer feedback into account.”

Google is working with longtime vendor partner Mosaic, which helped Google staff and support its stores in New York and Mountain View, Calif. For the new Austin store, Mosaic has hired approximately 30 people.
“The customer experience is our top priority,” says the Google spokesperson. “We need store associates with specialized retail expertise. For this, we turned to an expert. We have a longstanding partnership with our vendor Mosaic, which helped us find great talent to manage and support our pop-ups in 2016 and 2018, as well as the Google Stores in New York and Mountain View.”
The new Austin store also offers accessibility accommodations. Google worked with accessibility experts to assess its store accessibility and ensure that its store design and development are accessible to everyone. All store associates receive training for common customer situations, including visual impaired store assistance, ASL services on demand, wheelchair assistance as needed, and training for on-device accessibility features (e.g. screen reader, interaction controls, Pixel’s magnifier, captions, etc.).
