Utah City, Utah — Bella’s Market has opened in Utah City, Utah, making it the first new grocery store in Utah City for more than 100 years. Bella’s is locally owned and operated by Lee’s Marketplace in Utah City.
Design teams RDC and DyeLot Interiors collaborated on the project, with RDC serving as the store’s architect, and DyeLot providing interior design and branding services. Bella’s Market is supported and managed by Logan, Utah-based Lee’s Marketplace through a partnership with Utah City, built by Woodbury Corp and Flagship Cos.
“The concept for Bella’s Market was to bring a grocery amenity to Utah City, one that will also serve the surrounding residential communities. The vision was to create a place where customers will have a touch of the luxury grocery experience, and where they can get the specialty products of smaller format luxury retail stores while also being able to do regular weekly shopping,” says Terry Todd, AIA, principal of RDC.
“Bella’s Market represents the kind of thoughtful, community-driven amenity we envisioned for Utah City,” says Abel Porter, partner, Bella’s Market. “We knew we needed to build an anchor for daily life, designed to bring people together around access to great food. This wasn’t a future wish-list item; it was something current Vineyard residents wanted now. We made it a priority to bring Bella’s to life, creating a community anchor that serves those who live here today and supports the growth still to come.”
“Utah City was developed with an outdoor lifestyle in mind with ample public parks, bike paths and a prominent paseo. Together with the development team, we worked to make the store feel like a space people can naturally wander into as an extension of the neighborhood,” says Brittany LeBlanc, senior interior project designer/associate for DyeLot. “A key differentiator was our zoning strategy, which frames different areas of the store as hallmarks of a familiar neighborhood. Each primary component has an intentional identity, such as the vibrant Communal Garden or the craft-focused Heritage Hearth. Even the checkout is designed as a hosted departure to feel engaging rather than transactional. It makes grocery shopping feel more like moving through different chapters of a community which elevates the store into a neighborhood experience.”
