Manchester, Conn. — Bob’s Discount Furniture has promoted Michael Skirvin to president and chief executive officer of the company. He has served as president and chief operating officer since 2011. Skirvin succeeds Ted English, who has overseen the company’s expansion from 27 stores in seven states when he joined in 2006 to 69 stores in 12 states across the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest today. English, who has been elevated to executive chairman, will remain actively involved with the company.

Minneapolis — Target Corporation has hired Arthur Valdez as executive vice president, chief supply chain and logistics officer. Valdez will lead Target’s supply chain transformation including planning, distribution and transportation.
