Lansing, Mich. — Chick-fil-A’s long-awaited Michigan expansion will officially get under way on April 19, 2016, with a groundbreaking event at the site of its new Lansing restaurant — the first of 15 to 20 locations the chain expects to open in the state within the next 5 years.
Projected to open this fall, the new 4,971-square-foot restaurant will mark the chain’s first stand-alone Michigan store, to be located at 5617 W. Saginaw Hwy.
Along with the Lansing location, Chick-fil-A is expected to open a restaurant inside Troy’s Somerset Collection by year end. Over the next 5 years, Chick-fil-A plans to open three to four new Michigan restaurants annually and is considering locations in Kalamazoo, metropolitan Detroit, Grand Rapids and Lansing. Chick-fil-A currently has licensed locations at Detroit Metropolitan Airport and on the campus of Oakland University.
