Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse to Open in Pittsburgh’s Historic Union Trust Building

Pittsburgh – The Davis Companies (TDC) and Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group, Inc., owned by Tilman J. Fertitta and family, plan to open a Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse in September 2022 in the recently restored Union Trust Building in downtown Pittsburgh. Del Frisco’s reaffirmed its 15-year commitment, which will occupy 11,032 square feet of first floor and mezzanine-level space at the prime corner of Fifth Avenue and William Penn Place.

The restaurant’s upper and lower dining rooms will be connected by the restoration of an existing grand marble staircase. The main dining room of the new restaurant will be located in space that was converted into an ornate banking hall by the Union Trust Company when they purchased the building in 1923, and original brass-plated safe deposit box doors will also be incorporated into the interior design.

“The addition of Del Frisco’s to the iconic Union Trust Building is a great moment for Pittsburgh. Their commitment and investment in this location, particularly during the pandemic, is a huge vote of confidence in the city’s downtown and a win-win for all concerned,” says Herky Pollock, executive vice president of CBRE, who represented The Davis Companies in the transaction.

“The Union Trust Building was always the best fit for Del Frisco’s in Pittsburgh, given its ground zero location, the property’s magnificent architecture and historic significance and the strong performance of the other restaurants located there,” says Keith Beitler, chief operating officer for Del Frisco’s parent company, Landry’s.

Originally developed by Henry Clay Frick and completed in 1917, the Union Trust Building is a beautifully reimagined landmark that elegantly combines 21st century infrastructure and functionality with historic significance, award-winning aesthetics and an unparalleled suite of amenities and services. Since acquiring the property in 2014, The Davis Companies has invested more than $100 million in reinventing the Union Trust Building.

Key elements of the Union Trust Building’s transformation include:

  • 40,000 square feet of retail space, featuring numerous thriving restaurants and cafes which, along with Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse, includes The Speckled Egg, Freshii and Eddie V’s Prime Seafood.
  • 5,200-square-foot fitness center complete with yoga room and men’s and women’s locker rooms.
  • 370-seat auditorium.
  • 70-person tiered conference room with 2,100 square feet of contiguous pre-function space.
  • On-site valet parking.
  • Dedicated bike storage room.
  • 23 pieces of commissioned, Pittsburgh-themed artwork displayed over the building’s 12 floors.
