Canton, Mass. — Lionel Conacher, chairman of the board of directors of Destination XL Group, Inc., has been named interim chief executive officer, effective Aug. 12, 2026. Conacher will continue in his role as chairman of the DXL board. His appointment follows the previously announced retirement of Harvey Kanter, effective Aug. 11, 2026. Kanter will also step down from the board at that time.
“Our board will conduct a thorough search to identify the right leader to execute on our strategic priorities and capture the opportunities ahead in a dynamic consumer environment,” Conacher says. “On behalf of the board, I want to thank Harvey for his leadership and invaluable contributions to the company during his more than 7 years as CEO. We wish him all the best in his well-earned retirement.”

In connection with his appointment, Conacher will step down as chair of the audit committee and as a member of the compensation committee. In accordance with the company’s corporate governance guidelines, Carmen Bauza has been appointed lead independent director.
Conacher has served on DXL’s board of directors since June 2018 and as chairman since August 2020.
