Dollar General Continues Explosive Growth

Goodlettsville, Tenn. — Coming off a year that brought in record sales, Dollar General has made plans for 635 new stores in 2013. 

Goodlettsville, Tenn. — Coming off a year that brought in record sales, Dollar General is preparing for even more growth in 2013. The discount retailer plans to open approximately 635 new stores, which includes 20 new locations for its Dollar General Market grocery concept and 40 new locations for its larger Dollar General Plus concept. The company also plans to remodel or relocate approximately 550 existing stores. 

Dollar General saw an 8.2 percent increase in net sales and a 4.7 percent increase in same-store sales for the 2012 fiscal year. The company forecasted a 10-12 percent total sales increase and a 4-6 percent same-store sales increase for the 2013 fiscal year.
