Hobby Lobby Opens First Store in New York City

by Katie Lee

Oklahoma City — A new Hobby Lobby store opened in Staten Island, N.Y., on March 8, 2024. The Staten Island store, located at 280 Marsh Ave., is Hobby Lobby’s 25th location in the state of New York but its first in the five New York City boroughs (Brooklyn, the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island).

Katz & Associates’ Brian Katz and Daniel D. DePasquale represented Hobby Lobby in the transaction along with master broker Graeme Keith of The Keith Group. Brookfield Properties leased the space. Maher McHirgui is the store manager of the 42,000-square-foot retail facility, which is located in a space formerly occupied by Babies “R” Us.

“Katz & Associates has worked with Hobby Lobby since 2013, helping with their expansion throughout Florida and Pennsylvania, so it’s really exciting to help this top-notch retailer enter the New York City market with a new store on Staten Island,” says Katz, CEO. “We are actively seeking locations in all of the other boroughs and expect to have more exciting news soon.”

Hobby Lobby has more than 1,000 stores across the nation. Each store offers over 70,000 crafting and home décor products including floral, fabric, needle art, custom framing, baskets, home accents, wearable art, arts and crafts, jewelry making, scrapbooking and paper crafting supplies.
