Suwanee, Ga. — On August 19, Macy’s will open its third “off-mall” store format, Market by Macy’s, in the metropolitan Atlanta area. The new store will open at Johns Creek Town Center in Suwanee, Ga., a northern suburb of Atlanta.

Market by Macy’s is a smaller format store, approximately 30,000 square feet, offering customers an immersive shopping experience that celebrates discovery and convenience. Customers will be able to shop at the “Trend Pavilion,” which highlights a constant flow of fashionable trends, must-haves and new merchandise throughout the season that will inspire all to own their style. The off-mall, small format store also offers convenient services and fun events.

The new store is part of four planned Market by Macy’s stores opening this fall. The store also marks the third location in the metro Atlanta area, following Market by Macy’s openings in 2021 at Presidential Markets and Southpoint.

Last month, Macy’s had announced plans to open four new Market by Macy’s and Macy’s Backstage locations throughout the country in fall 2022. This fall, Market by Macy’s will debut in the St. Louis area at Chesterfield Commons, while the first dual Market by Macy’s and Macy’s Backstage store will open this fall in Chicagoland in Evergreen Park, Ill. Customers can shop at both stores all under one roof, with Market by Macy’s located on the first floor and Backstage on the second floor.

As a key pillar of the company’s Polaris strategy, Macy’s is focused on repositioning its physical store footprint to better serve its customers and effectively support omnichannel market sales growth. Off-mall, small formats play several roles in the company’s Polaris strategy by either expanding its presence in a current market, maintaining market presence by replacing underperforming locations or entering new markets where Macy’s doesn’t have a presence.

As part of Macy’s ongoing assessment of its store portfolio, it has decided to close the Macy’s Chesterfield location and will replace it with the new Market by Macy’s near Chesterfield Commons.

By the end of 2022, Macy’s plans to expand Market by Macy’s to eight total locations.
