Orchard Supply Hardware Plans East Coast Expansion

by Katie Lee

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. — Home and garden retailer Orchard Supply Hardware® (OSH) will open its first East Coast store on October 25, 2016, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Currently its 77 stores are all in California or Oregon.

The nearly 30,000-square-foot Fort Lauderdale location with a 7,000-square-foot nursery will be followed by three additional openings in Broward County, including Weston, Deerfield and Coral Springs through the end of 2016.

In addition to the Broward county locations opening in 2016, the company plans to open stores throughout the state in 2017.

Orchard Supply Hardware’s neighborhood format stores are designed to be easy to navigate and fun to shop. Instead of a big box with an overwhelming selection, Orchard merchandise is thoughtfully curated to make DIY more doable, offering paint, repair, backyard and seasonal décor solutions.

Orchard Supply Hardware operates neighborhood hardware and garden stores focused on paint, repair and the backyard. Based in San Jose, Calif., OSH was originally founded as a purchasing cooperative in 1931. Today, it operates 77 stores in California with three stores in Oregon. The stores average approximately 40,000 square feet of retail space.
