Seattle — Sur La Table, a leading retail destination since 1972 for those passionate about cooking and entertaining, has appointed Billy May as chief executive officer. May, a fourth-generation retailer, will also join the board of directors. He succeeds Diane Neal who retired earlier this year.
“We would like to thank Diane for her leadership and many contributions to Sur La Table,” says Kevin Nickelberry, managing director at Investcorp and a member of Sur La Table’s board of directors. “We are excited to work with Billy going forward and believe his extensive experience across the digital landscape — marketing, e-commerce and omnichannel — aligns well with Sur La Table’s strategic priorities.”
May brings deep marketing, merchandising and operations experience to Sur La Table with a strong focus on customer-facing growth initiatives across multiple platforms. He joins the company from Abercrombie and Fitch where he most recently served as senior vice president and member of the executive leadership team. He also held various leadership positions at adidas Group, Sears Holdings and Lowe’s Companies. He started his career as an executive trainee and buyer within the May Department Stores Company.
“As a lifelong retailer who is passionate about brands, I am excited to steward this iconic company,” May says.
