Philadelphia — Specialty value retailer Five Below will open seven new stores in the Atlanta market on June 1, 2012. Currently there are more than 200 Five Below locations nationwide.
Seattle — Outdoor retailer REI plans to open a store in San Antonio, Texas, in fall 2012 and its first Florida location in Jacksonville in spring 2013.
Irving, TX — Michaels plans to expand into Quebec with seven stores to open in the greater Montreal area in fall 2012. The move will put Michaels stores in all 10 of Canada’s provinces.
Los Angeles and Manchester, England — American Apparel has opened a new shop-in-shop location in Selfridges at Manchester’s Exchange Square, bringing its total store base in the UK to 19.
King of Prussia, PA — Simon Property Group plans to connect the two main shopping venues of King of Prussia Mall via a 140,000-square-foot retail and restaurant expansion.
Hong Kong — Gap Inc. has launched its first flagship store in Hong Kong. The company expects to grow the fleet to about 45 stores in China by the end of fiscal 2012.
Westbrook, ME — Olympia Sports, a regional sporting goods retailer, opened its 200th store in Dunkirk, Md., on November 18th, marking its second entry into the Mid-Atlantic market.
Pittsburgh — Dick’s Sporting Goods will open three new stores in Tulsa and Broken Arrow, Okla., this week — marking its first stores in the state of Oklahoma.
New York City — Saks Incorporated’s Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH plans to continue to expand the company’s store portfolio with five new stores planned for 2012.
