London — IKEA has purchased a West London shopping center, Kings Mall Shopping Centre in Hammersmith, where it will also debut its first UK small format store in spring 2021. The £170 million acquisition is part of IKEA’s strategy to develop mixed-use sites around urban stores. Burlington, Ontario — The highly anticipated IKEA Halifax store opened on September 27, 2017 in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, near Halifax. The 330,000-square-foot store is the 13th IKEA store in Canada and the first in IKEA Canada’s coast-to-coast expansion; the retailer will open 11 additional stores by 2025, doubling its footprint in Canada.

Burlington, Ontario (Canada) — IKEA Canada is planning a full-size store for Quebec City. Scheduled to open in summer 2018, the IKEA Quebec City store will be the 14th IKEA store in Canada. The store will take roughly 14-16 months to build once the ground has been broken in spring 2017 and will be approximately 340,000 square feet in size.
