Minneapolis — Target Corporation plans to open the company’s sixth CityTarget location in downtown Portland’s historic Galleria building. The multi-level store is set to open in 2013.

“The city of Portland and the Portland Development Commission are pleased to welcome Target to the Galleria,” says Portland Mayor Sam Adams. “We’ve wanted to bring Target to the area for quite some time and believe the new store will play a key role in our vibrant, signature retail district in Portland’s Central City.”

The Portland CityTarget will offer commuters, tourists and urban dwellers the convenience of one-stop shopping. The store will also include a Starbucks and a pharmacy. The 89,000-square-foot store will be Target’s first store in downtown Portland and its 12th location in the Portland area.

“Target looks forward to bringing the CityTarget shopping experience to our urban guests in Portland,” said Bill Frerichs, group director, Stores, Target.

Minneapolis-based Target Corporation has 1,763 stores across the United States. The company will open its first stores in Canada in 2013.
