Garden City, N.Y. — New York Fries, a premier fresh-cut fries concept, has marked its latest opening and re-entrance into the U.S. after growing the brand throughout Canada. New York Fries was first born in New York City’s South Street Seaport in 1983 where it began as a small french fry shop before going on to become a staple in food courts across Canada. New York Fries was acquired by Recipe Restaurant Group in 2015.
Opening on Jan. 9 inside the Dining District of Roosevelt Field, one of the largest shopping centers in New York, this restaurant will be corporate-owned and operated while supported by the New York Fries team in the United States.
New York Fries has more than 100 restaurants across Canada and 25 throughout the Middle East. Following the opening in Garden City, N.Y., additional corporate-owned restaurants are set to open in Smith Haven Mall in Long Island, N.Y.; Menlo Park Mall in Edison, N.J.; and Newport Center in Jersey City, N.J., this winter.
“This New York opening marks a significant milestone for us,” says Craig Burt, chief operating officer at New York Fries. “As a brand that got its start serving 3 sizes of fresh-cut fries and 3 sizes of soda in New York City back in 1983, we’re thrilled to make our official return and bring our fry-based menu to fry-lovers across the state and eventually across the East Coast.”
New York Fries differentiates itself by cooking its freshly cut potatoes in non-hydrogenated sunflower oil using a unique 3-stage method. As nothing else goes into the fryers except potatoes, the brand appeals to those with dietary and allergen restrictions, serving vegan, vegetarian and gluten-friendly items.
Located in all major Canadian mall food courts, as well as select highway rest stop locations, the 130+ unit chain is owned by Recipe Restaurant Group and can be found throughout Canada and the Middle East. For more information, visit www.newyorkfries.com.
