Burlington, Ontario (Canada) — IKEA Canada is planning a full-size store for Quebec City. Scheduled to open in summer 2018, the IKEA Quebec City store will be the 14th IKEA store in Canada. The store will take roughly 14-16 months to build once the ground has been broken in spring 2017 and will be approximately 340,000 square feet in size.
Nashville, Tenn. — Captain D’s has signed franchise development agreements to expand its presence in Georgia, Texas and Virginia. As part of this accelerated growth, the company will open five new restaurants in the Savannah, Ga., market, three in Dallas, and one in Hopewell, Va., over the next several years.
San Diego — In keeping with its fast-paced 2016 growth plan, which includes 34 new Petco stores and one new Unleashed by Petco year-to-date, Petco will open 13 new Petco stores across the country and relocate one store in Paso Robles, Calif., in September. In addition, the company will also transition 31 existing Unleashed by Petco stores to smaller format Petco stores this month.
Salt Lake City — Kneaders Bakery & Café has named Neil Checketts as its new chief operating officer, effective immediately. For the past year and since his time with Kneaders, Checketts has served as vice president of food safety and quality assurance.
Canton, Mass. — Baskin-Robbins, the world’s largest chain of ice cream specialty shops, has signed a multi-unit store development agreement with new franchisee Sharooz Setareh to develop three new ice cream shops in Santa Monica and Beverly Hills over the next few years.
