Austin, Texas — ALDI has successfully deployed Siemens’ Site Controls Energy Management System (EMS) at nearly 1,500 of its retail locations. The majority of the EMS installations were retrofits at existing stores where thermostats or third-party energy management systems were replaced, but Siemens also installed its Site Controls EMS in newly constructed stores.

Minneapolis — Target Corporation has hired Arthur Valdez as executive vice president, chief supply chain and logistics officer. Valdez will lead Target’s supply chain transformation including planning, distribution and transportation. He will report to Target’s executive vice president and chief operating officer, John Mulligan.
The Woodlands, Texas — Waste Connections, Inc. and and Progressive Waste Solutions Ltd. plan to merge in an all-stock transaction. The transaction is expected to close in second quarter 2016, and remains subject to other customary closing conditions, including the approval of both companies’ shareholders.
Long Beach, Calif. — P+R Architects, a full-service international architecture firm, welcomes Damon Pressman to its firm as a retail store director. Damon has joined P+R Architects to bolster the firm’s expertise in tenant improvements, interiors and multi-unit roll out programs.
Spartanburg, S.C. — Pure Barre opened its first international location in late February 2016. The fitness studio is located on Queen Street West, a well-known retail and entertainment district in Toronto, Ontario. Pure Barre’s Canadian expansion continues with two Vancouver locations set to open later this year.
Owings Mills, Md. — EMG, an engineering, environmental, capital planning, and project management consulting company based in Maryland and Arizona, has hired Blake A. Brosa as a new senior vice president of sales. Previously, Brosa was a senior project manager for Quality Project Management (QPM), a company that merged with EMG in 2014.
