San Francisco — The Gymboree Corporation has appointed Daniel Griesemer as the company’s new president and chief executive officer, effective May 22, 2017. Griesemer joins Gymboree after a 5-year tenure leading Tilly’s, an action sports-inspired teen and young adult apparel retailer where he served as president and CEO.
Cincinnati — The Kroger Co. has announced the retirement of Sukanya Madlinger, senior vice president of retail divisions, and the promotion of Calvin Kaufman to succeed her. Kaufman currently serves as president of Kroger’s Louisville, Ky., division. Kroger has also promoted Ann Reed to serve as president of Kroger’s Louisville division.
Seattle — goop, the modern lifestyle brand founded by Gwyneth Paltrow, is partnering with Nordstrom to bring goop’s coveted retail curation to Pop-In@Nordstrom in select stores across the country and online. This is the first-time goop is working with a major retailer in this capacity, and the first-time goop has a concurrent retail presence in multiple markets at once.
Boca Raton, Fla. — Orangetheory® Fitness, a fast-growing fitness franchise, will reopen its Shelton, Conn., studio by the end of May; the studio was just acquired by multi-unit franchisee Mark Molina. This acquisition is part of Orangetheory Fitness’s expansion plans throughout the state of Connecticut, with a goal of doubling its studio count in the state by the end of 2017.
