Austin, Texas — ALDI has successfully deployed Siemens’ Site Controls Energy Management System (EMS) at nearly 1,500 of its retail locations. The majority of the EMS installations were retrofits at existing stores where thermostats or third-party energy management systems were replaced, but Siemens also installed its Site Controls EMS in newly constructed stores.

The Woodlands, Texas — Waste Connections, Inc. and and Progressive Waste Solutions Ltd. plan to merge in an all-stock transaction. The transaction is expected to close in second quarter 2016, and remains subject to other customary closing conditions, including the approval of both companies’ shareholders.
Owings Mills, Md. — EMG, an engineering, environmental, capital planning, and project management consulting company based in Maryland and Arizona, has hired Blake A. Brosa as a new senior vice president of sales. Previously, Brosa was a senior project manager for Quality Project Management (QPM), a company that merged with EMG in 2014.
Oak Brook, Ill. — Federal Signal Corporation, a leader in environmental and safety solutions, has promoted Matthew B. Brady to the position of senior vice president of its Safety and Security Systems Group (SSG). In this new role, Brady will lead all aspects of SSG’s businesses based in North America. Brady joined the company in 2006, serving most recently as vice president and general manager of the Integrated Systems Division within SSG.

Charlotte, N.C. — Woburn, Mass.-based U.S. PAVEMENT Services, Inc. was named the Number 1 contractor for 2016 by Pavement Maintenance and Reconstruction Magazine from a pool of over 20,000 paving and paving maintenance contractors. The award was accepted at the National Pavement Expo (NPE) by founder and CEO, Mike Musto.
Fort Worth, Texas — The recently completed “Iconic Ring” was part of a $4 million placemaking development in the mixed-use corridor of West 7th in Fort Worth, Texas. When BuyLEDs, a division of WLS Lighting, was brought in by Vestar’s property manager to be the LED lighting design partner, construction of the ring had just been completed and they were brainstorming the best way to illuminate the structure.
New Hartford, N.Y. — Lund Food Holdings, Inc. has selected ParTech, Inc. (PAR), a wholly owned subsidiary of PAR Technology Corporation, to support its food safety program at all of its Lunds & Byerlys grocery stores. Lunds & Byerlys, a Minnesota-based, family-owned company, will deploy PAR’s SureCheck Advantage, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution for food safety and checklist management across its 28 locations.
