Boise, Idaho — Boise, Idaho-based grocery chain Albertsons Cos. has agreed to acquire Rite Aid Corp., one of the nation’s largest drugstore chains, for an undisclosed sum. The integrated company will operate about 4,900 locations, 4,350 pharmacy counters, and 320 clinics across 38 states and Washington, D.C., serving more than 40 million customers per week.

Cincinnati and Blackburn, U.K. — The Kroger Co. and EG Group, a privately-held petrol forecourt convenience store retailer based in Blackburn, Lancashire, U.K., have agreed to the sale of Kroger’s convenience store business unit to EG Group for $2.15 billion. The companies expect to close the transaction during the first quarter of Kroger’s fiscal year.
Atlanta — Arby’s Restaurant Group Inc. has completed its previously announced $2.9 billion acquisition of Buffalo Wild Wings Inc. As part of the transaction, the company launched a new restaurant company known as Inspire Brands Inc. The company will oversee the growth of Arby’s, Buffalo Wild Wings and an emerging brand, R Taco.
Smyrna, Tenn. — Franke Foodservice Systems, the global equipment and supplies solutions provider based in Smyrna, Tenn., has acquired Facility Solutions, Inc. (FSI), a project management firm serving national restaurant and retail chains. FSI will continue to serve these customers from its offices in Clinton Township, Mich., complementing Franke’s own business in supporting large-scale facility improvement programs for global restaurant brands.
Oceanside, Calif. — Kellermeyer Bergensons Services, LLC (KBS), the largest provider of technology-enabled, integrated interior and exterior property services to multi-site and multi-region customers in North America, has completed the acquisition of Empire Services (Empire), an independently owned commercial facility maintenance company headquartered in New Orleans. The transaction closed on December 29, 2017.
Marietta, Ga. — Deep Green Waste & Recycling Inc. has successfully closed the acquisition of Compaction and Recycling Equipment Inc. (CARE). CARE has been in business since 1977. It designs, engineers, fabricates, installs, finances or rents, and services waste equipment.
Oceanside, Calif. — Kellermeyer Bergensons Services, LLC (KBS), the largest provider of technology-enabled, integrated interior and exterior property services to retailers, grocers and multi-site customers in North America, has purchased Varsity Facility Services, a leading facility services provider in the U.S. and Canada. Varsity will join KBS as an operating division and will continue to utilize the Varsity brand.
