Toronto — On October 19, 2017, a joint venture (JV) group began operating liquidation sales at the remaining Sears Canada department stores and Home stores. Atlanta — Arby’s Restaurant Group, Inc. (ARG) has signed development agreements to build 25 new restaurants in the Chicago metropolitan area over the next 5 years. Chicago is a priority growth market for Arby’s where the brand has 64 restaurants and the potential to triple its current footprint.

Manchester, Conn. — Bob’s Discount Furniture plans to open six new stores in the Los Angeles market, simultaneously, on February 15, 2018. New locations will open in Baldwin Park, Huntington Beach, L.A.-Midtown, Long Beach, West Hills and Valencia. These six stores will be Bob’s first on the West Coast.
Brooklyn Park, Minn. — Nilfisk, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of professional cleaning equipment, has formed a strategic partnership with specialized robotics company Blue Ocean Robotics. Cincinnati — Katie Wolfram, president of the Central division of The Kroger Co., will retire on November 4, 2017 after 38 years of service. Pam Matthews, currently the QFC division president, has been promoted to succeed her. Suzy Monford will join the company to serve as president of the QFC division.
Raleigh, N.C. — Construction manager Williams Company Southeast will break ground this month for the new Wegmans-anchored Midtown East retail center near downtown Raleigh, N.C., under a contract exceeding $20 million. Regency Centers based in Jacksonville, Fla., is developing the project in partnership with ITB Holdings LLC of Chapel Hill, N.C.
