Tampa, Fla. — Bloomin’ Brands, Inc. has appointed Mike Kappitt as president of Carrabba’s Italian Grill. In this role, Kappitt will be responsible for leading the operations and development of the Carrabba’s brand in the United States. Kappitt most recently served as the senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Bloomin’ Brands.

New York City — Barneys New York, the luxury specialty retailer, has completed its new downtown flagship. The opening in Chelsea on 7th Avenue between 16th Street and 17th Street marks the return of the store to the same block that the company was founded on in 1923, and where it maintained an iconic presence through the late 1990s. The store will occupy almost an entire city block giving a new presence to the 7th Avenue streetscape.
New York City — Nordstrom, Inc. has unveiled the footprint and exterior design of its first Nordstrom store in New York City. The store will encompass four properties in the Columbus Circle neighborhood of Manhattan along Broadway between West 57th and West 58th Streets. The approximately 363,000-square-foot store is expected to open in 2019.
Indio, Calif. — Dickey’s Barbecue Pit plans to open its 100th California location and has begun rolling out new eco-friendly initiatives. Dickey’s already has more than 530 locations in 43 states. After Texas, the state of California has the most Dickey’s locations with new stores opening every week across the state.
Richardson, Texas — Crest Foods Inc., the franchisor of Nestle® Toll House® Café by Chip®, has promoted Patrick Hummel to the role of vice president of franchise development, effective immediately. He replaces Scott McIntosh, who left to pursue a similar role with another restaurant chain.
