Loves Furniture & Mattresses Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection

Warren, Mich. — Loves Furniture & Mattresses, owned by Dallas-based private equity firm U.S. Assets Inc., filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in early January amid struggles brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Loves was formed in April of this year and acquired 27 Art Van Furniture locations across Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, Virginia and Maryland in May. Warren, Mich. — Art Van Furniture, the Midwest’s Number 1 furniture and mattress retailer, has hired Ronald (“Ron”) Boire, a retail industry veteran with extensive leadership experience, as its new president and chief executive officer, effective April 30, 2018. Boire will succeed Kim Yost, who is retiring after 9 years with the company.
