Whole Foods Market Chooses Park Assist to Elevate the Parking Experience

by Katie Lee

Cheshire, Conn. — Park Assist® has been awarded the Parking Guidance System (PGS) contract at Whole Foods Market’s headquarters and flagship store in Austin, Texas. The multinational supermarket chain, founded in 1980, quickly rose in popularity thanks to its focus on quality, sustainability, and natural and organic foods. The parking installation is set to go live by the end of 2020.

Whole Foods’ headquarters and flagship store see an extremely high traffic volume, causing parking shortages within the underground garage. Employee parking is often overfilled, and team members are left searching for open spaces, costing them valuable time and gas while adding to congestion. To alleviate this unnecessary inconvenience, Park Assist offered Whole Foods a solution to help accommodate and elevate its guest and team member experience.

Park Assist’s camera-based M4 PGS and exterior wayfinding signage remove all confusion from the parking journey by clearly guiding visitors from beginning to end. The exterior signs, continuously updated with real-time data, indicate the number of available spaces within each area of the facility, and enable parkers to determine the best parking location at any given moment. From there, the M4 smart-sensor system goes a step further and specifies whether parking bays are available or occupied using color-coded LED lights, so there is no more guessing.

Additionally, Park Assist’s custom mobile Park App allows Whole Foods’ team members to find open spaces and decide where to park before heading to work. Because there are several different locations designated for team member parking, the ability to predict availability before arriving is key to guaranteeing a hassle-free employee parking experience with no time wasted.

“Our team is really pleased to work with Whole Foods Market in Austin, Texas, where they started. Park Assist’s M4 technology will not only make employee parking quicker and easier, but it will also help reduce parking challenges and traffic congestion in a busy, growing downtown location,” says Jeff Sparrow, regional account manager for Park Assist.

Park Assist® is the parking industry’s leading camera-focused innovator with the most camera-based parking guidance installations in the world. Park Assist is part of the TKH Group, a $1.8 billion publicly traded company headquartered in the Netherlands. For more information, visit www.parkassist.com.
