New York City — On February 5, 2019, Saks Fifth Avenue opened one of the largest luxury handbag destinations in New York City, furthering the $250 million ‘grand renovation’ of its Fifth Avenue flagship. The 53,000-square-foot main floor of the New York Flagship triples the handbag department selling space which includes more than 50 brands —14 of which are new to the store.
Manhattan Beach, Calif. — Footwear industry leader Skechers USA, Inc. has broken ground on an expansion of its corporate headquarters that will span several adjacent buildings in Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach, Calif. The project will more than double the company’s office, design and showroom space in the South Bay, bringing it to just over 330,000 square feet. Completion is anticipated for 2022, just in time for Skechers’ 30th anniversary.
Los Angeles — Formerly The Promenade at Howard Hughes Center in Los Angeles, HHLA is undergoing a $30 million renovation spearheaded by developer and operator The Festival Companies. The project is slated for completion in 2019. The sprawling landmark destination will introduce a morning-to-late-night dining, entertainment and shopping experience all within one thriving cultural hub.
Columbus, Ohio — Easton Town Center is undergoing a significant expansion that will feature local and national retailers, breweries, restaurants, entertainment venues, hotels and public event space. The expansion will exceed $500 million of development over the next 4 years.
St. Louis — Construction is complete for the $3 million historic renovation of the former Langenberg Hat Building in Washington, Mo., at 330 West Front St. As general contractor, Knoebel Construction converted the two-story brick building into a multi-use space featuring six, two-bedroom lofts and Streetside Tacos, a sit-down restaurant on the first floor. The developer was Marquart Landing Properties, L.L.C., and the architect was The Van Hooser Partnership.
Chicago — Englewood Construction’s restaurant group has started work on four projects including a Bartaco location in Deerfield, Ill.; a new BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse in Sterling Heights, Mich.; an Outback Steakhouse in Bloomington, Ill.; and the remodel of a Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse in San Diego.
