Purchase, N.Y. — The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company LLC will begin converting 25 A&P stores it acquired on October 8, 2015. During this process, groups of up to five stores will temporarily close for approximately 7 days and all of the conversions are expected to be completed by November 13th.
Los Angeles — American Apparel, Inc., a vertically-integrated manufacturer, distributor and retailer of branded fashion-basic apparel, has reached a restructuring support agreement with 95% of its secured lenders to implement a pre-arranged financial restructuring.
Grand Rapids, Mich. — Meijer has appointed Rick Keyes as president. Keyes, who joined the company 26 years ago as a pharmacist in Columbus, Ohio, takes the reins of the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based retailer after J.K. Symancyk departed the company to join Academy Sports + Outdoors.
Seattle — Nordstrom, Inc. has opened its new store at Ridgedale in Minnetonka, Minn., its second full-line store in the Twin Cities. The two-level, 140,000-square-foot store features the latest interior and exterior design concepts, a full-service restaurant and bar, and an enhanced beauty experience. The first Nordstrom store in the Twin Cities opened at Mall of America in 1992.
Chicago — The retail group of Englewood Construction, one of the country’s leading commercial construction firms, has started work on three new ground-up projects: a Hobby Lobby in Beavercreek, Ohio; a PetSmart in Taylor, Mich.; and a Goodwill in Monroe, Conn.
Latham, N.Y. — DWM Facilities Maintenance has promoted Katie Whitt to the newly created vice president of strategic accounts position. Whitt formerly held the position of national sales director from 2000-2015. Whitt will be responsible for strategic operations, business development and overall portfolio management for the company’s national accounts.
Dublin, Calif. — Ross Dress for Less® will open its first stores in Wisconsin on October 10, 2015. The three stores are located in the cities of Brookfield, Eau Claire and West Allis. These openings are part of the retailer’s 2015 expansion program, totaling approximately 70 new locations during the year.
Phoenix — PetSmart, Inc. has named Rob Anderson to the position of senior vice president and chief financial officer, effective October 5, 2015. He brings more than 25 years of financial experience, most recently serving as CFO for Save-A-Lot, a $4.8 billion discount grocery chain.
