City of Commerce, Calif. — 99 Cents Only Stores LLC has hired Geoffrey Covert to join the company as president and chief executive officer. Covert was selected by the board of directors for his extensive senior leadership experience in the grocery retail sector, having most recently served as a senior vice president at The Kroger Company, one of the world’s largest food retailers.
Cincinnati — The Kroger Co. has appointed four executive vice presidents to lead key lines of business, including Mike Donnelly (EVP of merchandising); Chris Hjelm (EVP and CIO); Fred Morganthall (EVP of retail operations); and Mike Schlotman (EVP and CFO).
Salt Lake City — The board of directors of Steton Technology Group, Inc., a market leader in performance management solutions, has appointed Frank Maylett as the company’s president and chief executive officer, effective September 21, 2015. He succeeds Martin Tidwell, who will depart the role on the same date.
Houston — Sei Jin Alt, chief merchandising officer of Francesca’s Holdings Corporation, plans to resign from the company to spend more time with her family and pursue other interests. The company has initiated a search for a new chief merchandising officer. To facilitate a smooth transition, Alt will remain in her current role until November 20, 2015.
Westborough, Mass. — BJ’s Wholesale Club, Inc. (BJ’s) has named Christopher J. Baldwin as president and chief operating officer, effective September 8, 2015. Baldwin will have responsibility for business operations including merchandising, logistics, membership, marketing and club operations and will also join BJ’s board of directors.
Southfield, Mich. — Continuum Services, a single-source, full-service building maintenance and facility services company, has hired Dan Ringo as chief operating officer (COO). Continuum is an affiliated company of REDICO, a national real estate development, investment, construction and property management company.
Toronto — Lowe’s Canada has appointed Jeff Boyd as vice president, real estate, construction and store design, effective immediately. Boyd joined Lowe’s in October 2007 and has played an instrumental role in the development of the company’s real estate and construction function in Canada over the past 7 and a half years.
