Burlington, Ontario (Canada) — IKEA Canada plans to install two additional electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at each IKEA store in Ontario, reinforcing IKEA Canada’s commitment to sustainability and sustainable transport. The Ontario Ministry of Transportation, under its Electric Vehicle Chargers Ontario (EVCO) program, is providing the funding for the new charging stations.

Emeryville, Calif. — IKEA has officially ‘flipped the switch’ on a fuel cell system installed at its retail location in Emeryville, Calif. The project represents the first IKEA endeavor globally to convert biogas into electricity through a clean electro-chemical process.
Las Vegas — IKEA has officially broken ground for its future Las Vegas store. When it opens in summer 2016, the new Las Vegas store will be the first IKEA in Nevada. Currently, the nearest IKEA stores are in Covina, Calif.; Tempe, Ariz.; and Draper, Utah.
Conshohocken, Pa. — IKEA plans to install a fuel cell system manufactured by Bloom Energy at its location in Emeryville, Calif., which is one of two San Francisco-area stores for the Sweden-based home furnishings retailer. The fuel cell system will be installed, commissioned and activated by summer 2015.
