Deerfield, Ill. — In its fiscal 2020 third-quarter results, Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. said its performance was “significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic,” causing sales to be roughly $700 million to $750 million lower. Deerfield, Ill. — To provide greater access to COVID-19 testing and community resources, Deerfield, Ill.-based Walgreens is working to expand drive-thru testing to 15 new sites in seven states. The locations include Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Tennessee and Texas. Confluent Development Completes Unique Infill Redevelopment Project in Historic St. Louis
St. Louis — Confluent Development has completed its redevelopment of the historic Southwest Bank property in St. Louis’ Southwest Garden neighborhood. The project features retailers BMO Harris Bank, which remained operational throughout the redevelopment process, and Walgreens, which recently celebrated its grand opening. Deerfield, Ill. — Walgreens plans to close approximately 200 stores across the U.S. starting this fall as part of a cost-management program. Specific store locations have not been disclosed, but the new closures represent less than 3% of Walgreens’ U.S. footprint. The announcement was made in a Walgreens Boots Alliance regulatory filing the first week of August. The Deerfield, Illinois-based company had previously unveiled plans to close 200 stores in the United Kingdom. Currently, Walgreens operates more than 18,500 stores in 11 countries. Overland Park, Kan., and Deerfield, Ill. — Walgreens and Sprint plan to expand the collaboration they had announced earlier this year, which will include 80 new locations.
