Cincinnati — The board of directors of Macy’s, Inc. has unanimously elected Jeff Gennette as chief executive officer, effective March 23, 2017. A 30-year veteran of Macy’s, Gennette succeeds Terry J. Lundgren, who will continue as executive chairman.

Orlando, Fla. — Darden Restaurants, Inc. has agreed to acquire Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen (Cheddar’s) for $780 million in an all-cash transaction. Cheddar’s will add to Darden’s portfolio of differentiated brands, which currently includes Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, Yard House, The Capital Grille, Seasons 52, Bahama Breeze and Eddie V’s.
Chicago — For the first time in its 117-year history, Rogers & Hollands Jewelers is launching a new discount store model, Rogers & Hollands Outlet, this April. Two Chicago-area Rogers & Hollands locations, one in North Riverside Park Mall and one in Golf Mill Shopping Center, have been selected to be rebranded, remodeled and reopened as Rogers & Hollands Outlet.
Bethesda, Md. — GTM Architects, an award-winning residential and commercial architectural firm, has completed some design work with Sugar Factory American Brasserie at six new locations across the U.S., including three that recently opened: a 9,000-square-foot restaurant in Chicago, Foxwoods Resort & Casino in Mashantucket, Conn., and its largest restaurant in Las Vegas.
Vancouver — Kohler Co. is expanding availability of its renowned kitchen and bathroom products with the opening of the first Canadian KOHLER Signature Store at West Broadway and Fir Street in Vancouver. The new store, solely owned and operated by EMCO Corporation, will open at the end of March.
Franklin, Tenn. — CKE Restaurants Holdings, Inc. (CKE), parent company of Carl’s Jr.® and Hardee’s®, has named Jason Marker as the company’s new chief executive officer. Most recently president of Kentucky Fried Chicken® U.S. (KFC), Marker has extensive domestic and international QSR experience. He is expected to start as CEO in April.
Cincinnati — The Kroger Co. has named Joe Grieshaber as its new president of Fred Meyer Stores, replacing Jeff Burt, who resigned on March 20, 2017 to become Target Corporation’s senior vice president of grocery, fresh food and beverage. Grieshaber had been serving as president of Kroger’s Columbus, Ohio, division.
